Sen. Sherrod Brown Accuses Rival Josh Mandel Of The ‘Big Lie’

What is up with the Democrats and their constant Nazi references ?

The latest example comes from the hard-fought U.S. Senate race in Ohio between incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown and Republican Josh Mandel , the state treasurer and Iraqi war veteran.

Brown’s new attack ad accuses Mandel of the “big lie.” As the Washington Examiner points out, “The term “big lie” was coined by Adolf Hitler and is commonly associated with Nazi propaganda.”

Mandel, 34, is Jewish and the grandson of a Holocaust survivor.

Last year Sen. Brown had to issue a public apology for comparing GOP governors to Hitler and Stalin.

In a interview last month with the Examiner , Senate candidate Josh Mandel, a Tea Party favorite, said in part:

My backbone comes from two places. My grandfather, who was a Holocaust survivor and instilled in me the importance of being tough and courageous, and the Marine Corps, which instilled in me the importance of standing on principle and not backing down. When I take that backbone to Washington, I will use it to stand up to political leaders on both sides of the aisle.

Brown’s “big lie” ad cites Politifact Ohio as its source, but as the Daily Caller explains, this organization frequently relied upon by the state’s media outlets appears to fraught with liberal bias and is not objective.

Parenthetically, Democrats who toss around these slurs don’t seem to realize, moreover, that the Nazis were national socialists , which is anything but the general Republican free-market philosophy.

Do you think Sherrod Brown should apologize to Josh Mandel and pull the attack ad?
