Dwight Howard TV Show? Lakers Up The Ante For Star’s Return

There will be plenty of teams making Dwight Howard an offer during the off-season. But only one is offering him his own TV show. Yep, that’s right. The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly offering Howard his own television show in addition to the $118 million max contract.

According to the NY Daily News , the Lakers have been talking with Time Warner Cable to get Howard on TV if he decides to resign with the team. The cable company and the Lakers signed a major TV deal in 2012 and have reportedly started “preliminary” talks about a Dwight Howard TV show.

The Lakers are doing just about everything they can to get Howard back on the team next season. GM Mike Kupchak, team executive Jim Buss, and Coach Mike D’Antonio have all had sit downs with Howard over the last few days. Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash also reportedly talked to Howard about the 2013 season.

Basically, the Lakers want Howard back and they’re willing to do just about anything to make that happen.

The Lakers organization met with Howard this week in Beverly Hills to talk about his future in Los Angeles. ESPN reports that Time Warner had a few representatives there to talk about his new television show.

Time Warner can’t be directly involved in the deal and they can’t officially offer Howard anything in exchange for signing with the Lakers. But it’s pretty clear that if Howard wants his own show his best bet is to stay in LA.

Howard wouldn’t be the first Laker to have his own show. Magic Johnson once hosted The Magic Hour for a few, dreadful episodes.
