Spice Girl Mel B got herself banned from Australia’s Got Talent.
According to MSN , the former Spice Girl was banned from the show over a dispute between rival networks.
Scary Spice was working for the Seven Network and was scheduled to appear on an Australian version of The X Factor. Despite having a contract with the Seven Network, Mel B decided that she would also sign with Channel Nine’s Australia’s Got Talent.
The Seven Network took Mel B to court saying that she breached the terms of her contract which reportedly states that the singer can not appear on a rival show until the end of 2013. The Seven Network won its injunction and now Mel B has been banned from Australia’s Got Talent.
The order will last until at least 2014 which means that Mel B will not be able to film the show this Summer.
Justice David Hammerschlag ruled : “Under the agreement, Mel has an obligation to provide her exclusive services to Seven, and Seven is entitled to her performance of this obligation. I see no reason why she should not be ordered to keep her word that she would not work for anyone but Seven in Australia in 2013.”
A Seven spokeswoman said, “(The network) welcomes the decision of the court upholding its contract with Mel B and preventing her working for a competitor in breach of contract in 2013.”
The Seven Network previously said that they were planning to use Mel B sporadically throughout this season of The X Factor. It’s unclear if they will still be using the Spice Girl on their show.
Mel B won’t be judging talent in Australia but she has been cleared to judge people in the United States .
Scary Spice may not be allowed to film Australia’s Got Talent this year but that doesn’t mean that all Spice Girls have been banned from the show. AGT is reportedly looking at Geri Halliwell as a last minute replacement for Mel B.
