Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell have their hands full with their 4-year-old twin girls . It’s a full-time job for the celebrity couple as they decided against hiring a nanny.

Romijn has made a name for herself through multiple films including the X-Men series, but her main focus is being a good parent to her young girls. She recently opened up about parenthood and how she splits daughter duties with her husband.

“We’re each other’s assistants. We pick up each other’s slack,” the 40-year-old said in Redbook’s upcoming August issue . “Whoever is less busy helps the busier one: ‘Can you go pick up this for me?’ or ‘Can you book my flight?’”

Her husband has also been featured on the big screen, but he’s slowed down with work since having twins. His latest film was a spot in the 2013 flick, Scary Movie 5 .

Double the trouble, as they call it, didn’t have any affect on the couple’s decision to go without a full-time nanny. Rebecca Romijn has no problem splitting the parenting duties, but she can’t hold back all the time when she’s on break and O’Connell is taking care of the twins.

“It’s hard for me to not make suggestions when I’m not on duty,” she added. “For example, 10 days ago when he was bringing the girls up to Vancouver, I was like, ‘Oh, God, he cannot forget their jackets. I have to remember to tell him to bring rain boots.”

Nevertheless, Romijn is busier than ever with her newest role in the drama TV series King & Maxwell . The first season is set for 10 episodes and it began airing on June 10.

Promoting the show is one thing, but working through new gigs while taking care of twins is a whole different story all together. No matter how hectic her schedule is, she remains a mother first and she’s enjoying her time with the girls before they grow up.

Do you think Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell took the right approach to parenting by not hiring a full-time nanny?
