Pierce Brosnan’s daughter Charlotte passed away this weekend after a long battle with ovarian cancer.She was 41-years-old.
Sadly, this is a familiar experience for the actor. Brosnan’s first wife Cassandra Harris passed away in 1991 from the same disease.
The actor said that Charlotte was surrounded by her family when she succumbed to cancer this weekend.
Brosnan said in a statemen t: “On June 28 at 2 p.m. my darling daughter Charlotte Emily passed on to eternal life, having succumbed to ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her husband Alex, children Isabella and Lucas and brothers Christopher and Sean. Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl. We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon. We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences.”
According to E! Online , Charlotte was the child of Cassandra and Dermot Harris. Dermot passed away when Charlotte was young and Cassandra would go on to marry Pierce Brosnan. The actor later adopted Charlotte.
In Pierce Brosnan’s latest movie Love Is All You Need the actor plays a man whose wife loses her hair during cancer treatment. Brosnan said that he drew from his own sad experiences to portray his latest character.
Brosnan said: “I identified with the character. I know something about the world of this man’s heart. I lost a wife to cancer myself…This character is very bitter about it. Very closed off. This is a story that was kind of taken from my own life. I know what it’s like to look at a beautiful woman and then cut the hair off. I know what it’s like to shave a head.”
