Cissy Houston, mother of the late Whitney Houston has slammed her invitation to attend music industry executive host Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Awards Gala party as “disgusting.”

The annual gala event will take place at The Beverly Hilton hotel in California, which is the same hotel where Whitney Houston died on February 11, 2012, aged 48.

The multi-grammy winning singer was found dead in a bath in Room 434 of the Hilton less then 24 hours before she was due to attend mentor Davis’ Grammy party last year.

The cause of death was recorded by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office as “Accidental Drowning” complicated by the effects of atherosclerotic heart disease, cocaine use, and other drugs including Xanax.

Now, approaching the one year anniversary of Houston’s death, Cissy is livid at what she considers Davis’ thoughtlessness.

“I got an invitation to the party — which is the most obscene thing,” Cissy told Access Hollywood in New York City on Thursday. “I don’t know why they would want me to come to the party in which she died, you know? Unheard of.”

She added : “I guess maybe he just sent me a copy for remembrance sake.”

The 79-year-old grandmother says she will not be going to either the Grammy Awards ceremony or Davis’ Gala party, but says she will be tuning in to watch the awards on television.

Although Cissy won’t be at Davis’ party, Whitney’s brother Gary Houston and his wife Pat are expected to make it to the pre-Grammy event.

The LA Times reports that Houston’s death, Room 434 is no longer available to hotel guests, and the number has been removed from the door.

Founder and president of Arista Records from 1975 to 2000, Davis signed a 20-year-old Houston to Arista in 1983. Currently, the chief creative officer of Sony Music Entertainment, in his time Davis has headed numerous record companies.

Digital Spy reports that Davis has hinted he will pay tribute to Houston at this year’s Grammys.

Justin Timberlake, Adele, Elton John, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Sting, and many others will take to the stage at the 55th annual Grammy Awards at Los Angeles’ Staples Centre on Sunday.
