Marie Osmond is very excited to become a grandmother. On Monday, she announced the news on the CBS show, The Talk.
Osmond had a little fun with the announcement of her new grandchild which a quick round of laughter from the crowd in attendance.
“I’m pregnant,” she jokingly said before adding, “No! No! But my daughter-in-law is!”
The 53-year-old’s son Stephen Craig is expecting his first child with his wife Claire Olds. Osmond couldn’t be any happier and she even received a congratulations from the show’s co-host Sharon Osbourne, who went on to say that being a grandmother is “the best … it’s a gift from God. Congratulations.”
Osmond’s jokes weren’t done after breaking the news of her first grandchild as she explained her excitement.
“I am so excited I’m going to be a grandma,” she added during the show. “I just can’t wait. We went in for my son — for his birthday — he turned 30, which is amazing ’cause I’m 29.”
Marie Osmond has always been considered one of the greatest entertainers in show business, so joking around comes natural to the popular celebrity. She went on to reveal how her son informed her of the news during his birthday celebration.
“He blew out the candles and then blew me away and said, ‘You’re gonna be a grandma!’” she explained to the ladies. “It was really fun.”
The surprise must have been a shock for Osmond and you can easily tell by her expression when she revealed it all on The Talk . She currently has plenty of things to celebrate, including her recent 50th anniversary in show business.
The news of her first grandchild may give Osmond the chance to slow down with her career as she’s still busier than ever. Outside of making appearances on the regular, she also continues to do live performances and record music.
