Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have been playing coy about the rampant split reports that began circulating last week, but sources are now confirming that the couple did, in fact, break-up, only to reconcile very shortly afterwards.
According to an insider who spoke out about the current state of the couple’s relationship, reports claiming that Gigi and Zayn broke up last week were accurate, but the two are now officially back together and have been for a few days.
“They broke up and got back together almost right away,” a source close to Gigi and Zayn told Us Weekly on June 8, but the insider admitted things could quickly go south for Hadid and Malik once again. “Right now it’s back on, but it could be off again in an hour.”
Gigi and Zayn have always enjoyed a pretty rocky romance since they first got together last year according to the insider, with the twosome being on/off for the majority of their relationship.
“They are young and keep going back and forth. Things are testy between them,” Us Weekly’s source claimed of Hadid and Malik.
Another insider also spoke out to the site about Gigi and Zayn’s rocky romance, revealing that Malik and the model have different personalities that can sometimes clash.
“[Zayn] wants to stay home and hang out, but she loves the limelight,” the source admitted. “[Gigi] loves attention and he hates it. An introvert and an extrovert; we all saw it coming.”
E! News also reported the couple’s split on June 3, claiming at the time that Gigi and Zayn’s romance is so on/off that the couple were likely to reconcile at any given point, as Hadid and Malik have allegedly “broken up and got back together a few times” in the past.
“Zayn and Gigi did break up, but they can likely get back together tomorrow,” a source told the site last week. “It’s all very unclear what’s going on between them now. They’ve been having some issues lately that involved communication and getting along.”
The site’s insider also alleged that Gigi was “really sad” about her and Malik’s break-up and claimed that the model “would like to work it out” with the former One Direction star.
“It’s more about that constant contact with Zayn that she misses and they did get very close,” the source added.
Reports claiming that Gigi and Zayn called things off before quickly getting back together follows claims from Hadid’s dad, Mohamed Hadid, that suggested the two were very much back on despite rumors suggesting that the two had officially split.
TMZ quizzed Gigi’s dad on the current status of his daughter’s relationship with the former One Direction singer earlier this week, where Mohamed denied that Gigi and Zayn had broken-up to photographers.
“I didn’t even know there was a break up,” Mohamed told paparazzi of Hadid and Malik while out in Los Angeles, admitting that his daughter had not mentioned a split despite the two just enjoying breakfast together that day.
“I wasn’t even aware there was a break up. I had breakfast with her this morning. I don’t think there’s anything going on,” Hadid told TMZ . “I think probably they are [still together].”
Hadid also admitted in the candid paparazzi footage that he still hasn’t met Malik despite Zayn dating his daughter for what’s thought to be the past seven months.
“I’ve not met Zayn but I’ve heard he’s a very, very nice guy,” Gigi Hadid’s dad said.
