According to Amber Heard, her recent bid for a restraining order against her now-ex-husband Johnny Depp is more than just cash-grab, according to TMZ . Sources close to Depp are of the opinion that the driving force behind Amber’s recent decisions is all about Depp’s money.

Johnny’s friends point to a letter that Heard’s own lawyer filed with the courts, which seems to support the idea that Amber is really just after the money. Depp’s friends are reported to be “skeptical that the whole thing may be a money grab.” Heard, however, vehemently denies that her divorce is a money-driven endeavor. Amber has stated that the financials are for nothing other than to keep her going during the divorce and “to sustain her.”

Jake Bloom, Johnny’s entertainment lawyer, got a letter from Amber’s own lawyer on May 24, three days before Amber made her claims about domestic violence. This letter also came three days after the alleged iPhone attacks. The letter was itself a statement of Amber’s intentions with the divorce and contained a pretty steep list of financial demands. Depp’s camp thinks it’s a steep list that’s also steeped in subtext and that it’s “just a shakedown” with a pretty clear subtext making itself apparent. In the letter, Amber’s lawyer says that the actress wants an “amicable” divorce.
“Amber wishes to work quickly towards a private and amicable resolution of all matters, but she will need Johnny’s immediate cooperation to do so.”

Heard’s lawyer also made the claim that Amber wants “to work out solutions outside of the public eye.” Stress and constant exposure can make bad situations worse, certainly, but it’s also understandable that Depp’s friends and family might be suspicious of Amber’s motives.

The letter doesn’t end there, though. In fact, Heard’s lawyer goes on to make a long series of financial demands. According to TMZ , the demands include, but are far from limited to, spousal support, the Range Rover the two owned together, possession of an entire penthouse property in L.A. and a small sum of $125,000 for lawyer and business fees. Whether or not Amber’s divorce is a cold money-grab, there is a time and place for making hefty financial demands of your ex, and perhaps now is a little soon. The divorce process is hardly even started.

Several sources close to Johnny claim that Heard never actually asked Depp to stay away from her voluntarily. The sources say that it’s all about money for Amber. The implied threat, of course, is that Johnny either pays the demands or is exposed a lengthy trial, a restraining order and a host of potentially life-ruining allegations. Depp’s family and friends seem to think the allegations would all be false, and it is curious that the allegations and restraining order are being kept in reserve if violence really is the problem.

The Heard-Depp divorce papers were filed on May 27 after Johnny failed to comply with the demands. Johnny’s own people sent Amber a counter-offer on the financials, but Amber has declined to comment, respond, or even show the offer to fans.
According to Perez Hilton , Heard has claimed that everything on the list is nothing more than standard. Reportedly, the intention is simply to sustain Amber during the difficult time as she and Johnny split up. Fans of the former couple can certainly hope for this best-case divorce scenario, but as things unfold, Depp’s friends still think Heard is looking more and more guilty of at least a few ulterior motives. Even so, in a game of he-said-she-said, there is only so much that can be inferred from claims made before the divorce is all cleared up.
