Carly Rae Jepsen’s boyfriend was a hush-hush topic for most of the first year they were dating, but now the “Call Me Maybe” singer is gushing about her bf, calling him a “really great guy.”
The 26-year-old Canadian singer told People that she and beau Matthw Koma are enjoying their easy-going relationship. Dates for the couple are usually low-key and easy, she noted.
“I love to go on spontaneous dates and do things that we’ve never tried before or stay at home and make a homemade dinner,” Carly Rae Jepsen said of her bf. “I really like to cook. One of my favorite things to make is homemade sushi. I know how to make the rolls and it’s really fun to do.”
Jepsen has her US album debut set for release in September. Her boyfriend, musician Matthew Koma, is also in the midst of some musical projects of his own. He laid vocals for Zedd’s “Spectrum” and Alesso’s “Years,” which takes a sample from Florence + the Machine.
Carly Rae Jepsen and her bf have only been public for a few weeks. In mid-August the New York Daily News revealed that Koma introduced Jepsen as his girlfriend at the GetGlue HD Launch Party in New York City. Until that point, Jepsen had spoken glowingly about the man in her life but never named him.
Jepsen also told People that, if guys want her to call them maybe, they need to be assertive.
“I really like guys who have confidence, but not the cocky over-the-top confidence,” Jepsen told People at the U.S. Open’s annual Arthur Ashe Kids Day in Queens, NY. “Guys with the right type of confidence are really sexy.”
Carly Rae Jepsen also had some praise for her bf directly, saying, “He’s a really great guy and really talented.”
