With just one episode until the season finale of The Flash , things in Central City and Earth 2 are building toward an epic clash between Zoom’s metahuman army and the team from S.T.A.R. Labs. While Black Canary was previously a part of the CW/DC Comics Universe by way of Barry Allen’s friends from Arrow , Laurel Lance’s Earth 2 counterpart shows up to introduce herself as Black Siren.
Meanwhile, Wally West tries to prove his life was worth saving by helping the Flash defend their city from the “metapocalypse,” Cisco and Caitlin go undercover dressed as their Earth 2 doppelgangers, and Jesse Wells is convinced she has undiscovered metahuman powers waiting to reveal themselves.

An army of metahumans
Having assembled a legion of evil adherents from Earth 2, a Zoom-planned doomsday was in the works for the Flash and friends. At the forefront was Black Siren, who has a very different set of skills than Black Canary.

Just when it looked like she might get the best of Barry, Iris’ brother Wally shows up and takes her out with his car. Throughout the episode, Barry, Wally, and Joe debate whether or not it’s a good idea for Wally to put himself at risk for the sake of saving his city.
Helping put Black Siren away, Cisco and Caitlin dress up like Reverb and Killer Frost, convincing and distracting the evil version of Black Canary just long enough for their plan to work.

The sound of victory
Eventually, as the team at STAR Labs puts their brains together, Cisco figures out that emitting a sound wave at just the right frequency will render the Earth 2 villains helpless while not affecting anyone from Earth 1. It resulted in all of the Earth 2 villains being apprehended and locked up — except for Zoom.

As everyone was celebrating with a family-style dinner — Barry and Iris even agreed to try things out romantically — things got even worse. Zoom reappeared, kidnapped Barry’s father, and made The Flash watch him kill his father in the same spot that Barry’s mother had died.
When the metahuman-destabilizing sound-wave is unleashed on Central City, Dr. Wells’ daughter Jesse begins to suffer. Wells puts his own life at risk to make sure she remains safe. Throughout the episode, she is convinced that she must have metahuman power while Wells continually tells her she’s just a really smart girl. Jesse also got her flirt on with Wally, for what it’s worth.
Black Siren & Kid Flash
While Black Canary was introduced into the Arrowverse long ago, this episode of The Flash marked the debut of the Black Siren. The continuity between the worlds of The Flash , Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow was reinforced by her role in this episode.
For those unfamiliar with Flash lore and the vast DC Comics history, Kid Flash may be a new concept. Like Batman and Superman, the spirit of The Flash lives on long after the superhero. One version of the Kid Flash story in DC Comics is based on Wally West growing up to take after Barry Allen.
