Marc Summers, best known as the host of the Nickelodeon game show Double Dare and Food Network’s Unwrapped , was in a serious accident earlier this month that caused severe injuries to his face.
As we reported earlier, Marc Summers was traveling in a cab in Philadelphia at the time of the accident, and, due to heavy rains and a torrential downpour, the cab hydroplaned. In our earlier post about Summers serious cab accident, we wrote that the TV host had little recollection of the crash and that he was “all good” but “in pain” after more than half of his face was shattered.
Summers, 60, has opened up a bit more about the seconds leading up to the disfiguring crash. He says that, on the phone with a producer, he saw the accident coming but was unable to do anything to prevent his injuries:
“I knew when [the driver] lost control that I was in trouble. I was on the phone with my supervising producer and I said, ‘Oh my God, we’re going to crash!’ …Next thing I knew, I woke up and had blood all over me.”
However, Summers also says that the damage was pretty extensive, damage from which he is only just beginning to heal. He explains:
“Everything on the left side from my eye socket down was just wiped out. My eye socket got all swollen. I’m having trouble seeing completely out of the left eye … There’s lots of titanium and screws in my face… I was pretty lucky that I didn’t have brain damage.”
Still, Summers is optimistic for a full recovery in coming weeks and says:
“Everything went back into place. In a few weeks, the swelling will go down and no one will ever know … I’ll be a new guy.”
