J.K. Rowling is truly one of the most involved modern authors when it comes to her fans. She often responds to comments, questions, and theories on Twitter. She also habitually posts to Pottermore , her site that is solely concerned with Harry Potter and the wizarding world. Even though Rowling has been criticized recently for potentially ruining the series , J.K. continues to care about her characters and her fans.
Rowling has a reputation for enjoying, welcoming, and responding to fan theories , as Bustle reports.
“In the nine years since the last Harry Potter book came out, the fandom has had time to come up with a lot of theories about the Harry Potter universe . JK Rowling has shut down most of them (like the claims that Snape is a vampire, or that Ron is a time-traveling Dumbledore).”

The theory that has been circulating is that Dumbledore and his phoenix, Fawkes, are more than they seem.
“One of the YouTube vloggers behind SuperCarlinBrothers , Jonathan Carlin, recently fleshed out a theory that Professor Dumbledore’s animal companion, Fawkes, was actually a horcrux — implying that the greatest wizard of all time dabbled in dark magic,” Popsugar explained.
This theory has been the source of attention on social media sites, where it is ironically getting more positive feedback from fans than negative.
As it is, many fans have already spoken out on the theory. One would assume that fans would find it extremely difficult to fathom that (arguably) one of the most noble, heroic characters in modern young adult fiction is not as virtuous as he had always seemed. A character that continually speaks about love, sacrifice, and friendship, Dumbledore seems like the last person who would ever be a partaker in the Dark Arts.
Many fans have found the theory entertaining and intriguing–and, overall, not entirely bad.

After much buzz and many fans begging J.K. to give her opinion on the controversial theory, Rowling finally responded via Twitter on Wednesday.

For anyone who is fairly abreast of popular Harry Potter fan theories and the history of various HP characters, Dumbledore is not in any way a neglected figure. Fans still are reeling from and fascinated by Rowling revealing of the wizard’s sexuality. The Inquisitr reported that one fan in particular found it “hard” to picture Dumbledore as being gay, a comment to which Rowling quickly responded.
“The original tweet by user @anakocovic21 has since been deleted, but she initially asked Rowling ‘Thank you so much for writing Harry Potter. I wonder why you said that Dumbledore is a gay because I can’t see him in that way.’ The response she got is just one of the reasons JK Rowling could easily be dubbed the Queen of Twitter.”
Rowling presented a perfectly fair yet sassy response to the user.

Rowling, as the author of the internationally acclaimed novels, is obviously our primary source for viable theories. She has now shot down Carlin’s theory, and the world is left to cope. Fans will surely come up with another surprisingly dark theory before we know it.
