WWE News: Kane Explains Undertaker Vs. Shane McMahon Storyline

While Shane McMahon’s return and his eventual match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 has been a gigantic story over the last couple of weeks, there has been some confusion as to why “The Deadman” would just obey Vince McMahon’s orders and wrestle Shane at AT&T Stadium.

Many believed that WWE would shed some light on why Undertaker agreed to wrestle Shane when “The Phenom” appeared on RAW last week. However, his reasoning for accepting the match wasn’t explained at all, and the purpose of the segment was for Undertaker to warn Vince McMahon about the inevitable beating he’s going to give his son at WrestleMania 32 .

The storyline probably will be explained further in the coming weeks. But for now, all we know is that Undertaker just accepted the match for no apparent reason.

Kane, who has worked closely with Undertaker over the years, spoke with Talks Sport while promoting WrestleMania 32 . He was asked about the Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon match, how he thought it was going to go, and what he thinks “The Deadman’s” reason is for accepting the match.

“With Shane, you just have to weather his exuberance, for lack of a better term. He’s going to want to just let it all hang out and jump off the top of the stadium if he can. So I think that’s the most important thing – just let him do his deal. And then eventually, of course, what’s going to happen is – much like in a soccer or rugby match – that emotion’s going to wear off and from there the better team, or, in this case, The Undertaker, does what he does best.

“(Undertaker) has a challenge in front of him, and that’s what it is. I don’t know if there’s necessarily a nefarious back story or anything like that.”

If Undertaker is just looking at the Shane McMahon match as a challenge that has been put in front of him, then the segment with “The Deadman” and Vince McMahon from last week’s RAW makes much more sense.

Some have suggested that there’s a whole lot more to the Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon story, saying that the match between the two will end with Undertaker hitting Shane with a Tombstone, but instead of going for the cover, he’ll lay down and pull Shane on top of him, thus giving Shane the win while it’s clear that Undertaker was the real winner.

Basically, the story would be that Undertaker took the match just because he wanted to see The Authority taken out of power for good. In short, he’s willing to take a bullet for the betterment of the company.

Whatever the story ends up being, as of right now, Undertaker vs. Shane is the hottest thing going in the entire company, and it could very well be the match that ends up stealing the show at WrestleMania 32 . Sure, it probably won’t be the most technically-sound match, but it’ll probably have a lot of crazy spots as all of Shane McMahon’s matches usually do.

As of this writing, no one is sure what will happen in the match, and who will come out with the victory. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer , Shane McMahon is only in as a performer until WrestleMania 32 , and he won’t have any major role backstage. So that suggests that he’ll lose to Undertaker at AT&T Stadium, and then he’ll once again leave WWE shortly thereafter.

Meltzer also recently reported that there have been a lot of changes in the Undertaker vs. Shane storyline. So he may end up sticking around after WrestleMania 32 after all.
