Hillary Clinton: Adele’s Biggest Fan? Democratic Front-Runner Admires Singer’s ‘Abilities And Personality’

Hillary Clinton is a big fan of Adele! The Democratic front-runner said the British songstress is her “go-to” voice — when she’s not digging classical music or classic rock, that is.

As Rolling Stone reports , Hillary was in Miami this week for a Sirius XM interview, where she was joined by Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine. Levine asked Hillary what kind of music she would play if she had her own show on the satellite radio provider, and Hillary gave a rather telling answer.

“…a lot of women singers [like Adele and Sheryl Crow]. I’m currently into Adele. That is my go-to voice. I have such a huge admiration for her skills, her abilities and her personality.”

The feeling may be mutual; the Mirror reported in 2011 that Adele is a “Labour girl through and through.” Translation: She supports Britain’s left-leaning Labour Party. She also has no love for current right-leaning Prime Minister David Cameron, whom she affectionately called a “wally” (whatever that means, but it’s undoubtedly not good).

Also, Adele doesn’t appear to be a fan of right-wing American politicians, either. As Contact Music reports, Adele has no love for Donald Trump , especially when he uses her songs, without her permission, at campaign events.

But enough about Adele, and back to Hillary. When she’s not digging singers like Adele and Sheryl Crow, the 68-year-old says that she listens to a lot of classical music to help soothe her when she’s buried in work.

“You’re doing a lot of paperwork. You’re trying to get through it. You don’t have to listen to the lyrics. It really is a way of taking it all in.”

And of course, being a child of the 1960s as she is, Hillary says her playlist would, naturally, include its share of classic rock.

Hillary Clinton isn’t the first Democratic politician to publicly endorse her favorite musicians during this campaign. Just last week, according to this Inquisitr report , Bernie Sanders said that Vermont-based jam band Phish is “one of the great bands in this country.”

And if you’re wondering what kind of music Republican front-runners Donald Trump and Ted Cruz like, Rolling Stone has you covered. In a February 2016 report, writer David Browne noted that Donald Trump digs Aerosmith , the Rolling Stones, and classic rock in general. Ted Cruz, meanwhile, “didn’t like how rock music responded” to the September 11th terrorist attacks and has since gone country.

However, politicians in America have to walk a somewhat fine line when it comes to music, particularly when it comes to using a performer’s music in your campaign. If you’re a politician and you say you’re fan of, for example, Bruce Springsteen, that doesn’t necessarily mean the feeling is mutual. This is especially true if your own political views are at odds with Bruce’s — your “support” could be an embarrassment to him.

And during almost every election season, without fail, a political candidate will use a song at rallies or events and get a cease and desist letter from the musician’s lawyers, because the musician doesn’t agree with the candidate’s views. You may remember, for example, that Survivor (the 80’s anthem-rock band, not the CBS TV show) got rather upset with Republican Mike Huckabee for using the band’s hit single “ Eye of the Tiger ” at a Kim Davis rally, according to CNN .
