Arrow Season 4’s last episode, prior to the winter break, brought in a new comic book hero to battle, Damien Darhk. Megalyn Echikunwoke voiced DC Comic’s animated Vixen on the CW’s online station, Seed , but writers and producers of Arrow decided that Vixen could be useful in a live-action form. Echikunwoke’s Vixen was brought in because of her magical abilities that Team Arrow lacks. Prior to Vixen’s live-action appearance, The Flash and Arrow assisted her, so the Green Arrow called in a favor. Comicbook.com reports that Megalyn Echikunwoke explained the differences between playing an animated versus a live-action version of the same comic book character.

“Oh! So exciting! For any actor, whenever you get a costume, it’s exciting because it’s the last layer of the character that really kind of snaps you into that character. But when you’re playing a superhero, even more so obviously. The costume is everything and in some cases is the power, so it was very exciting and the people over at Arrow are really so talented. All of the costumes are amazing. It’s definitely different from the animated series, or any costume that you’ve seen Vixen in, in the comic books, but I think that’s because it’s very in-keeping with the aesthetic of the show. Vixen is very much in this episode, stepping into Green Arrow’s world.”

Vixen is the first CW comic book character adaptation that did not spin-off from one of their other shows, and the first animated comic book adaptation, which makes this character very interesting. Now that Vixen exists in the live-action universe, it opens her up for other crossovers and character team-ups, as Vixen and Vibe have crossed paths in the DC Comics universe. Echikunwoke sees a possibility that it could happen in CW’s The Flash in the future.

“There is a possibility. There’s nothing in stone, but potentially anything’s possible. I think Vixen could go anywhere, which is one of the cool things about her character; she’s friends with everyone at school, you know? She’s in almost every group.”

Vixen helped Team Arrow stop Damien Darhk a little ahead of schedule, though it is unlikely Darhk has been completely stopped. Arrow Season 4 is a little less crowded with comic book heroes like The Flash is, so it is likely she could return. Echikunwoke seems to also see this possibility, since Vixen is a unique character for the Arrowverse.

“I think the Green Arrow has a lot of respect for that, and understands that we can combine forces to really make a difference in a way that some other characters can’t, and I think that’s why he comes to me.”

Stephen Amell was questioned about another unique crossover that has already happening with The Flash. Amell would love to see a Supergirl/Arrowcrossover.

“…whether I’m on a show or I’m not on a show — I always feel as though I can in some way, shape or form represent them, and I always want them to be wildly successful and last for many more years than we end up lasting, because I just want to see people have success. So, I would love to go over to Supergirl . That would be a blast, if for no other reason than I miss shooting in Los Angeles.”

The Inquisitr reported recently about the potential, and then for the confirmed, Supergirl/The Flash crossover that is well underway. Arrow fans likely have an interest in this Supergirl crossover, even if just to open the door of the DC Comics TV Universe a little wider.
