Powerball is the most popular lottery jackpot game, followed by Mega Millions. The game is known for having large jackpots that always reset to $40 million. A new design in the game started in Oct. 2015 that allows for larger jackpots to be rolled. As the odds of winning the jackpot have decreased, larger jackpots will cause excitement and frenzy in those who play. Though odds of winning the jackpot have decreased, the chances of winning other prizes have increased. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338. The odds of winning the second-tier prize of matching all five white balls without the red Power Ball are 1 in 11,688,053.52.

Powerball is an easy game to play. Those who want to learn more about how to play Powerball can check the official website for tips, strategies, and advice. Powerball tickets cost $2 a piece while Mega Millions tickets cost $1. Those who buy a Powerball ticket can add a Power Play multiplier for an additional $1. You play Powerball by choosing five white balls between the numbers 1 and 69 and one red ball between the numbers 1 and 26. You can choose your own numbers or let the terminal randomly select the numbers on your ticket through a Quick Pick or Easy Draw. During the Jan. 13 drawing, three winning tickets were sold. One was sold in Florida, one in Tennessee, and one in California. The Florida winners used tickets that were selected by numbers the winner had played for 30 years. The Tennessee winner purchased four Quick Pick tickets and one of those tickets matched the winning numbers for the $1.58 billion jackpot. The California winner has yet to come forward and claim their prize. When playing Powerball, there isn’t one method that is preferred over the other, but some feel the best way to increase your chance of winning is to play the same numbers repeatedly and purchase a Quick Pick ticket.

The Power Play multiplier is a great way to increase the amount of your winnings. The Power Play multiplier can’t be used with the grand prize, but it can be used with the second-tier and other prizes. The second-tier prizes limit the amount of the multiplier. For example, all second-tier prizes are worth $1 million, but the Power Play multiplier will only give you an increase of $2 million. Power Play multipliers range from 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, and 10x. However, regardless of what multiplier is drawn, the prize for the second-tier drawing will always be $2 million. The third-tier prize can really see a big change when the Power Play multiplier is drawn. Third-tier prizes consist of matching four white balls and the red Power Ball. The prize is normally $50,000 but will be multiplied accordingly with the Power Play. A 10x Power Play multiplier will turn $50,000 into $500,000. With large Powerball jackpots and the ability to increase non-jackpot prizes, it’s not surprising that Powerball is America’s favorite lottery game.

Stay tuned as we’ll have tonight’s live drawing video, the winning numbers, and information on the latest Powerball winners. Did you play Powerball tonight?

Good luck!
