Initial reports say that Khali was up against three foreign fighters, none of whom have been identified yet. The match took place at the Indira Gandhi Cricket Stadium in the town of Haldwani located in the Uttarakhand State of India. After getting injured, Khali was taken to the Intensive Care Unit of Brijlal Hospital. Doctors there confirmed that he had suffered head and back injuries. Doctors at the hospital added that Khali would be kept under observation for 24 hours.
The Great Khali made his wrestling debut back in 2000 and was a popular wrestler in Japan. However, he became famous worldwide after being drafted into the WWE in 2006. His first appearance was made against the Undertaker during a feud between Mark Henry and the Dead Man. Later, Khali went on to beat the Undertaker at Judgment Day — thanks to some help from his then-assistant, Daivari. In 2007, Khali went on to win the World Heavyweight Title after defeating Kane and Batista in a single move.
By 2011, Khali’s menacing persona was transformed, and afterward he started playing out the character of the “Punjabi Playboy.”
Khali was finally released in 2014, after his eight-year long contract with the WWE ended. In the meantime, Khali acted in several Hollywood and Bollywood movies. He is known to have played cameo rules in The Longest Yard and in an episode of NBC’s Outsourced. He also appeared on the Disney Channel TV program Pair of Kings as Atog, a rock-smashing giant, in the episode “Fight School.” In India, he gained fame after participating in the reality show Bigg Boss . After his retirement, Khali said he wanted to start up a wrestling school in India to train budding wrestlers. Back in 2015, a report by The Inquisitr talked about Khali’s future plans. He was quoted saying the following back then:
“I am in the field of wrestling for the past 14 years … now I want to do something for those who wanted to make their career in wrestling. It is very unfortunate that youth of the country is involved in drug addiction.”
In 2015, Khali was finally able to realise his dream after he set up his own Wrestling academy – the Continental Wrestling Entertainment in India.
We will update this article once we get an update on Khali’s condition. We hope the former WWE giant makes a full recovery.
