A theme park in China has begun their “Love Miniskirts” campaign, which runs for the next two months, and allows female visitors the chance of getting a half-price ticked if they arrive wearing a skirt shorter than 38 centimeters.

The Telegraph reports that, since the campaign began, news stations have been at the entrance of the Merryland Resort near Guilin, filming female staff while they measure guests arriving in skirts. If the skirt-wearers qualify, they are only required to pay 55 yuan per ticket. Li Wenxing, deputy manager of the park, stated:

“The stipulation aims to encourage female visitors to showcase their beauty in summer.”

He also noted that the offer has been available each year, beginning in 2007, and it has been a huge success.

CNN Go notes that Li Wenxing further stated that, “We have been hearing negative comments about the campaign since we launched it, but the number [of complaints] is decreasing every year.”

One concerned citizen, netizen Song Xiangping on a blog called gmw.cn, suggested, “If women can enjoy discounts for showing [their bodies], then can they enter the park for free by going totally naked?” Many Chinese citizens agree, believing that the park’s decision to give mini-skirt wearers a discount promotex a vulgar culture.

Despite this, the campaign seems to be successful, and one female tourist even commented, “I think I can accept this [offer]. We’re university students, [this deal] allows us to play during school break with less money.”

And, according to The Christian Post , the women-only promotion comes at the same time as the park’s “water-splashing festival,” which is held in July and August. The festival becoming more and more popular, possibly because visitors are able to go around splashing each other with water–including the mini-skirt wearers.
