“ Cherry Wine ,” a collaboration between rapper Nas and late British singer Amy Winehouse has surfaced. The song, which features likely unfinished lyrics by Winehouse, was produced by her and Nas’s frequent collaborator Salaam Remi. “Cherry Wine” will appear on Nas’s 10th studio album Life is Good, which is set to be released July 17.

In a conversation between Nas and former manager Steve Stoute at SXSW earlier this year, the rapper expressed some reservations about recording the pair’s first collaboration “ Like Smoke,” which was produced by Remi and appeared on Winehouse’s posthumous album Lioness: Hidden Treasures . He said,

“Part of me didn’t want to do the song… Amy and I share a birthday, so she was my sister. And she was just so much fun to be around. She would say things about well-known people in the industry that she didn’t like and it would just crack me up… We were all hoping she would pull through and come back.”

Nas also said that it was difficult for him to listen to the track now that Winehouse is gone.

“It’s a bittersweet feeling to do something with her now that she’s not here,” he said. “I’m happy… the sweet part is that we do have the music, fans have new music from her. The bitter part is that she’s no longer here to really give it to us and to really live her music and for us to see her smile and hear her voice.”

Give “Cherry Wine” a listen below and let us know what you think of the pair’s sophomore collaboration.
