‘Fuller House’ Premiere Date Revealed, Along With Emotional Teaser [Video]

Today was monumental for Full House fans. Not only did the release date get dropped for the Netflix spinoff series, but an emotional teaser trailer was released.

The teaser trailer is filled with memorable shots of Full House — mostly shots that you’ll remember from the opening credits of every episode: the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge and the front of the now iconic Full House house. Then we take a look inside of Fuller House’s home. The house is empty before DJ Tanner-Fuller moves in. By now, DJ is all grown up and has a family of her own to take care of.

Once Netflix revealed the old-school font for the new spinoff, which was almost identical to the bright yellow lettering that Full House used, it was easy to guess that Netflix wanted to use that homegrown fan base to return to Fuller House to see what’s going on in the lives of the two Tanner girls. Just from the glimpse of the trailer, it looks like Netflix is relying heavily on nostalgia and sentiment since the teaser is dripping with both.

As the camera pans around the house, the original cast’s voices can be heard, even though no one is seen on camera. Danny (Bob Saget), Joey (Dave Coulier), Jesse (John Stamos), and Becky (Lori Loughlin) are all heard on the other side of the door, as DJ, who’s now a mother of three, is seconds away from opening the door to her old house to move back into.

The only thing on the other side of the door, is the new dog, which some fans have expressed grief over since this means Comet has died. In real life, Comet, whose real name was Buddy, died of cancer in 1998.

As previously reported, the series will follow DJ Tanner-Fuller, who recently lost her husband and has to raise her three children all by herself. Except, just like with the original series, DJ asks for a few extra helping hands. Her younger sister Stephanie, who’s an aspiring musician (just like her Uncle Jesse!), moves in with DJ along with DJ’s childhood BFF Kimmy Gibbler.

The only Tanner girl who isn’t going to be in the pilot episode is Michelle Tanner. As reported, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the twins behind the youngest Tanner girl, weren’t up to reprising their role. In fact, they’re the only cast members, including recurring characters, who aren’t making a return to the new series.

That said, Michelle Tanner won’t be left out of the series. As the Inquisitr reported, Michelle Tanner will be in New York developing a fashion empire, much like the twins are in real life. There will be one episode where all the characters prank Michelle Tanner, saying her signature line “hey dude.” So, look for that in the batch of 13 episodes.

Full House’s fan base has been responding to the trailer all day, and it looks like as far as marketing goes, Netflix is getting it right, and everyone seems excited about revisiting their favorite family.
