Actress Kate Winslet is uncomfortable with discussing the gender pay gap issue in Hollywood.
The Oscar-winning actress shared her honest thoughts on the issue during an interview with BBC Newsbeat Tuesday, according to the Hollywood Reporter .

Instead of taking a specific side in the ongoing debate, Winslet apparently decided to focus more on how she feels about the overall conversation.
“I’m having such a problem with these conversations. I understand why they are coming up but maybe it’s a British thing. I don’t like talking about money; it’s a bit vulgar isn’t it?… I don’t think that’s a very nice conversation to have publicly at all. I’m quite surprised by these conversations to be honest, simply because it seems quite a strange thing to be discussing out in the open like that.”
The 40-year-old actress, who made her big-screen debut in the 1994 film Heavenly Creatures , also stated that she has no complaints when it comes to her overall career in Hollywood. According to Winslet, she is “a very lucky woman” that is “quite happy about how things are ticking along.”

In the past two decades, the Divergent star has been featured in over 30 films on the big-screen, including such box-office hits as Titanic , Contagion , Finding Neverland , The Holiday , Flushed Away, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind .

Kate won the Oscar for Best Actress thanks to her critically acclaimed performance in the 2008 film The Reader .
She also won an Emmy Award for her leading role in the 2011 HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce . Many people might not realize that the longtime actress also become a Grammy winner in 2000 after accepting the award for the “Best Spoken Word Album for Children.”

“I’m juggling a thousand balls and probably dropping them as good as everyone else is… I get down time and I also get ot choose… As a woman, for me, that’s huge because obviously I want to have time with my children and I get plenty of it so I do feel very lucky.”
Even with that downtime that she is able to experience as a mother of three, Kate Winslet admits that the women she admires are those that work “48, 49 weeks of a year [with] very little holiday, five days a week and are still pulling it all off.”

This is not the first time that Kate Winslet has made headlines with a heavy dose of blunt honesty in the media. She has also admitted that she keeps her coveted Oscar award in the bathroom , refuses to have her Lancome ads retouched , and bans her children from using social media.
More than 20 years after she starred in her first on-screen role, Kate Winslet still seems to stay busy in Hollywood with a full plate of impressive roles. She has played the villainous role of Jeanine Matthews in The Divergent Series, Apple marketing executive Joanna Hoffman in Steve Jobs, and Myrtle “Tilly” Dunnage in The Dressmaker , and she apparently has no plans to slow down anytime soon.
