Like her or not, Ariana Grande is making her position on sexism in the media clear: she won’t stand for it. And this time, it was two Power 106 radio DJ’s that bore the brunt of her assault.
As reported by Vox , Grande endured a painful interview with the DJs of Power 106 in Los Angeles that consisted of such hard hitting questions like, “Makeup or cell phone?” Instead of giving into the bait, Ariana fired back with a much different response than the hosts might have expected from someone as young as she is.
“Is this men assuming that that’s what girls would have to choose between?” she asked, her eyes rolling at the stupidity of the question. The DJ pressed forward however, asking Grande if she thought she could go one day without her cell phone. The “Focus” singer acknowledged definitively that she could.
The topic of equality and sexism also got brought up in a more playful way when the discussion with Grande moved on to whether certain emojis used in text messaging were more masculine or feminine by design.
Finally, when asked if she could change one thing in the world, Ariana continued to cite equality among the sexes as her major want.
“I have a long list of things I’d like to change … I think, judgement in general. Intolerance, meanness, double standards, misogyny, racism, sexism. You know, all that shit. There’s lots we’ve got to get started on. That’s what we need to focus on. We have got work to do … We’ll start with you, though.”

This is not the first time Ariana Grande has spoken out on the topic of gender equality in the media. As reported by Inquistr , Ariana took to Instagram earlier this year to voice her displeasure over a possible double standard that exists between male and female celebrities. Her post originated because of the constant dating questions, following her breakup with rapper Big Sean, she faced while on tour, a topic she felt only female celebrities are forced to endure.
“I know y’all already know this but the double standard and misogyny are still ever present. I can’t wait to live in a world where people are not valued by who they’re dating / married to/ attached to, having sex with(or not) / seen with … but by their value as an individual.”
Ariana’s stock among feminists and her peers was at an all-time high when she posted that statement, but as everyone is aware, her credibility — and popularity — then took a major hit soon after when she was caught on camera licking donuts and bashing Americans , as reported by Huffington Post . The incident jeopardized her once burgeoning, multi-platinum career and, according to Hollywood Reporter , Grande became the second most disliked celebrity behind only Bill Cosby at the time.
Still, this shows that Ariana Grande won’t take her fall from grace as an excuse to ditch her opinions, however polarizing they may be. Ariana recently took on a body shamer who tweeted that she was too skinny to be found attracitve when compared to more “curvy” actresses like Modern Family ‘s Ariel Winter.

“Here we go again…” Ariana captioned before putting the body shamer in his place. The bold stand once again found favor in the female population — including from Ariel Winter herself who took to social media to voice her support.
