Stephen King fans have been holding their breath for more news about the miniseries adaptation of the popular novel, 11/22/63 . They can now breathe a sigh of relief as Hulu has now set a date for the miniseries to be released.

The Inquisitr reported a while back that Hulu was working on the miniseries adaptation of King’s popular sci-fi novel , 11/22/63 .

Starring James Franco in the lead role, the story tells the tale of a teacher who finds a time-travel portal in the back of a local diner and decides to go back in time in an attempt to prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas on November 22, 1963.

Things became complicated when his character met up with Lee Harvey Oswald in the past, and even more complicated when the teacher started to fall in love with living in the past.

The book veered away from Stephen King’s normal horror style into a more science fiction or fantasy sphere, and fascinated many readers with its innovative and exciting story line.

Speaking of the novel, Stephen King had said in an interview how much he enjoyed writing the book, which is among the best received of his novels, as he loved envisaging how an action like this could possibly have changed the world.

King famously loves the idea of time travel and science fiction in general, and fans have recently watched the series adaptation of Under The Dome, which was regrettably cut short in its run.

As further reported on the Inquisitr , while the miniseries version of 11/22/63 was being filmed recently in several Canadian towns, including Cambridge, Dunville, and Hamilton in Ontario, fans were lucky enough to catch photos and videos of James Franco in action in his role as Jake Epping, the said time-traveling teacher in the miniseries version of the Stephen King story .

Besides James Franco in the lead, Sarah Gadon has been cast to play Epping’s lover in the past, Sadie Dunhill, who helps him in his attempts to stop Oswald (played by Daniel Webber) from killing JFK.

Other actors appearing in the much-touted miniseries include Chris Cooper as Al Templeton, the owner of the diner containing the time travel portal, Josh Duhamel as Frank Dunning, T.R. Knight as Johnny Clayton, Cherry Jones as Marguerite Oswald, Lucy Fry as Marina Oswald, and George MacKay as Bill Turcotte.

According to Variety , the first two episodes of the Hulu miniseries version of the Stephen King novel 11/22/63 were executive produced by Kevin Macdonald of The Last King of Scotland fame, with the major assistance of King, Bryan Burk, J.J. Abrams, and Bridget Carpenter.

So as to not keep readers in suspense any longer, the nine-episode Hulu mini series will be released, rather appropriately, on President’s Day, February 15, 2016.

The mini series will be released by Hulu on a weekly basis, as it always does for original series, rather than Netflix’s strategy of releasing everything at once for its binge-watching members. While Hulu is keeping the name similar to the original novel, it will be released as 11.22.63 , dropping the slashes for periods within the name.

11.22.63 will be available exclusively to Hulu subscribers who are on the $7.99 monthly plan with commercials, or the ad-free $11.99 version.

Hulu is owned by Disney, 21st Century Fox, and NBC Universal, and has been steadily adding a range of original series and miniseries, starring big name talent, to attract more paying clients. Hoping to compete more successfully against Netflix and Amazon, Hulu has recently introduced series like The Mindy Project (Season 4), after the show was canceled by Fox, along with Amy Poehler’s Difficult People , which will return with a second season.

In more Stephen King related news, the Inquisitr reported Wednesday on the remake of the classic horror story It starring the evil Pennywise the Clown .

More exciting is the latest news that Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series of books are gradually heading to the big screen, with the first film to be released in January 2017.
