Priyanka Chopra, star of ABC’s new television drama Quantico, is no stranger to the spotlight. Though you may not have heard of her in the United States, she has already placed her stamp on the rest of the world. Now, Chopra is setting her sights on emulating in the United States what she has been doing in Bollywood, and the rest of the world for that matter.
People Magazine sat down with Priyanka to talk about her career up to this point. For those who watched the debut of Quantico, it is not hard to miss the strikingly beautiful actress from India. Most people feel this way. In fact Chopra is a former Miss World.
“I was taking pictures in a studio for a scholarship program for a university in Australia and the photographer was like, ‘Oh, can we take a few more pictures because you’re pretty? My mom saw the pictures and thought they were really great so she sent them in for Miss India and then I won Miss World. I was just 17!”
While it is most actor’s dream to end up in Hollywood, Priyanka was not going to take the first role that came her way. In the same interview, Chopra talks about what she was wanting out of her first American role. She went as far to say she was skeptical about coming to the United States to act.
“I was honestly skeptical. I didn’t want to play a stereotypical role. I wanted a great part, and they found me one. She’s like a female Jason Bourne.”
A female Jason Bourne is a lot to live up to, especially if it is an ABC television show and the actress is new to viewers in the States. The early reviews for Quantico have been mixed, but most agree that a real bright spot in the series is Priyanka Chopra.
“Chopra has a poise and sexual spark as Alex that suggests a formidable potential FBI agent whose mind and beauty are equally stunning,” says The Wrap .
“(Chopra) is sharp, intense, infinitely watchable, and the main reason Quantico may also become one of your new faves,” reports Yahoo !
