The Boston Celtics were hit with five technical fouls during Monday nights Game 1 loss to the Miami Heat, including one foul that was assessed to head coach Doc Rivers and during the post-game press conference Rivers let his frustrations be known, a move that could see him donating some of his pay to the league.

Rivers received his own technical foul late in the second quarter after verbally attacking a referee for a foul call after Rajon Rondo converted a driving layup in traffic.

In a replay Rivers appeared to have screamed, “C’mon, Eddie” at referee Ed Malloy, seconds later Malloy stopped play and assessed the technical foul.

Following the game Rivers said:

“I know mine wasn’t (deserved). I can tell you that much. I don’t know how long I’ve been in this league, but that has to rank as the worst I’ve ever had. I would have loved to earn it.

Rivers continued:

“We should never get them anyway. I told our guys that. But everybody has to keep their composure. Not just the players and coaches.”

Even the mild manner Ray Allen managed to pull off a technical in the second quarter, followed by a Kevin Garnett technical foul three minutes later when he batted the ball away.

With Boston drawing fouls and Dwayne Wade and LeBron James clicking the Heat used the fouls to its advantage to pull off a 93-79 Monday night win.

Do you think the Boston Celtics’ technical fouls allowed the Miami Heat to pull off a game 1 victory on Monday night or were they simply outplayed throughout the game?
