One Direction Set For Huge Face-Off With Justin Bieber?

One Direction wrapped up the U.S. leg of their “On The Road Again” tour last weekend and are set to head back to the UK for what could prove to be their final shows. Despite assurances from One Direction members Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne fans are worried that this tour could prove to be their favourites last tour. One Direction have announced that they will split, at least temporarily, in the new year, after they complete the promotional round for their fifth album. As a result, fans have been running a campaign to attempt to push sales of the new album to one million copies in its first week of release.

Album sales of that magnitude are rare indeed these days. One Direction will face a huge challenge to achieve that figure, as most releases don’t come near those figures in total sales, never mind in a single week. As of today there is no definite release date for the fifth, as yet unnamed One Direction album. As reported in Inquisitr last week rumours swept the internet that the album would be released without any prior promotion on Friday September 11. That proved to be untrue.

According to Unreality TV, it is now believed that the new One Direction album will drop on Friday, November 13. If that proves to be true, then a date believed to be unlucky by many could prove to be very unlucky indeed for One Direction. It is believed that Canadian pop star Justin Bieber will drop his first album for three years on the same date. This could lead to an incredible battle between the One Direction and Justin Bieber fandoms to ensure that their favourites top the charts in the week of release.

If true, the battle between One Direction and Justin Bieber is sure to be a close one, as both acts’ previous albums shot straight to the No 1 spot. With Bieber releasing a “comeback” album and One Direction releasing what could prove to be their final album, it is sure to be a close battle.

The comparison between Bieber and One Direction’s previous releases is an interesting one. Bieber’s Believe sold 374,000 copies in its week of release, while One Directions Four was just ahead with 387,000 copies.

Pop Dust claim that secondary market ticket prices for the U.S. leg of One Direction’s tour were well down on the prices achieved for the 2014 tour. Many tour dates failed to sell out, so this could be an indication that the boy-band are past their “sell by” date.
