A man who likes to sniff women’s feet at a South Florida university is wanted by police in connection with the bizarre incidents.
The foot sniffer was captured in a photograph getting under a table and smelling a woman’s feet. The incident took place on August 29 at Florida International University’s Green Library, just as students were starting a new semester, according to campus police. The man managed to run away.
Needless to say, women on campus are on edge thinking about the foot sniffer and when he may strike again. The person who filed the complaint to FIU police said the subject appeared to smell the feet of the victim, who was sitting at the table, WSVN reports.
The photographs show the bald foot sniffer wearing a red shirt and a baseball cap. In one picture, he is seen riding a dark-colored scooter, police says.
Student Natalie Quintana is one of many women on campus who are freaked out by the foot sniffer, and says she wouldn’t know if he would do that to her.
“This guy must have a weird fetish. God only knows what else he wants to do if he’s going to be smelling your feet.
I’d be so freaked out. I don’t know what I would do. Probably kick him. Gotta watch out who’s smelling your feet.”
“You’ve got to start wearing some sneakers,” another student said about the foot sniffer.
News Director Camila Fernandez gave more details about the foot sniffer incident in a FIU Student Media publication. According to Fernandez, the victim wasn’t even aware of the man’s presence under the table, while other students say they have never seen the man before.
The foot sniffer is believed to be in his late 40s or early 50s, with a gray goatee. His head appears mostly bald, and he seems to be around six-feet-tall and weighs about 200 pounds. Photos of the suspect have been distributed all over campus, in hopes that someone will have information about this person.
In a statement, Florida International University police said the foot sniffer’s motives are not clear.
“It is not clear to police what the intention of the man was, and no one was hurt as result of this incident. There have been no other reports and no known victims.”
FIU police also says that despite students making light of the alleged foot sniffer incident, they take the situation very seriously and ask for the residents’ help.
