Eight high schools in San Diego were placed on lockdown Thursday morning after receiving threats that immediately made school authorities and police respond. The eight schools that were placed on lockdown are Scripps Ranch, Patrick Henry, Morse, SD High, Clairemont, Crawford, Kearny, and Mira Mesa. On Twitter, San Diego Unified School District also announced that Pt. Loma and La Jolla high school had been placed on lockdown.
Each of the eight high schools received a phone call that threatened that school , according to NBC San Diego . The first called came in at 9:30 a.m. to Scripps Ranch High School, and the last call was received at 9:48 a.m. According to district spokeswoman Linda Zintz , some of the threats involved shooting and others involved explosives.
The San Diego Union-Tribune is saying a call was made at 9:15 a.m. to San Ysidro High School, and the caller said “something would happen” within the next 15 minutes , but the caller did not elaborate on what they were talking about. Chula Vista police searched the campus and access to campus was limited while students were instructed to stay in their classrooms.
San Diego Unified Chief Public Information Officer Ursula Kroemer said, “The schools are safe. Your students are absolutely safe. When we have a school in lockdown, students remain in the classrooms. All activity is put on hold.”
San Diego Unified School District took to Twitter to help friends and family be aware of what was happening and continually updated them throughout the lockdown.

San Diego Unified is urging parents to not come to the high schools and pick their students up.
Authorities have said that no students are hurt, and no shooters or explosives have been found. The police are still in the midst of investigating the calls and have still not lifted the lockdowns on the schools.
