Rihanna and Chris Brown may remain close friends after ending their on-again, off-again romance in 2013, but has the former couple had a falling out over Rihanna’s new relationship with Travis Scott?
Rihanna ignited dating rumors with Scott earlier this month after the duo were spotted making out at Rihanna’s NYFW party.
While neither Rihanna nor Scott have personally confirmed the dating rumors, sources close to Rihanna reveal that her ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, is upset about her budding romance to the Rodeo rapper.
A Rihanna insider explains to Urban Islandz that Brown is “jealous” over Rihanna and Scott’s romance , noting that the news of Rihanna’s new relationship is causing problems in their friendship.
“He is clearly jealous and tried to start an argument with RiRi about it but we all know how feisty she can get so she would have none of that BS from him.”
The source further explains that, “They have been having a great friendship for a while but this is definitely driving a wedge between them. I think he felt like there was some hope that they would get back together but she has long laid down the rules to him so I highly doubt that she will ever go back to him.”
The news comes just weeks after Brown gushed over his friendship with Rihanna in an interview with Tim Westwood, telling the reporter that he will always “have love” for his ex despite their history, the Urban Daily reports.
When asked about his decision to perform Rihanna’s new single, “B**** Better Have My Money,” during one of his own concerts, Brown explains, “Yeah! That song is hot.”
When Westwood implies that Brown’s performance of Rihanna’s song may fuel dating speculation, Brown explains, “She’s hot, she’s my homie though. We’ve known each other since we were 14, 15 years old, so with that kind of history, you know, we always gonna be cool. I don’t get jealous, I don’t get mad. I’ve got love and respect for her.”
Meanwhile, fans continue to speculate regarding whether or not Rihanna and Scott are actually a couple.
Sources close to Rihanna confirmed the news of her romance to Travis Scott to E! News earlier this week, although Rihanna seemingly shut down the dating reports on her own Instagram account after she implied that she’s still single.
