Nicolas Bechtel of ABC’s General Hospital seems to have a great career ahead of him, and it is about to get even better. Variety reported that he is set to star in a brand new sitcom on the Disney Channel. The series, which is slated for some time next spring, is called Stuck in the Middle. This comedy centers around a large Latino family that has their ups and downs, just like any family with several kids. Even though the young actor doesn’t have the lead role, he is still a huge part of the cast.
Bechtel currently plays the role of Spencer Cassadine on General Hospital, the dramatic young son of Nikolas, who mostly just drives his dad crazy. The little guy is fun to watch and is one of the most memorable young actors on the soap.
In this new Disney gig, Bechtel has the role of Danny, just one of seven kids in the large Diaz family. The main focus will be centered on middle child Harley Diaz, who will be played by Jane the Virgin actress Jenna Ortega. She loves to invent things, which seems to be easier for her than trying to figure out to navigate her way through life and her family.
The other kids are being played by some familiar faces, if you happen to recognize them from watching the Disney Channel. The lineup of actors include Kayla Maisonet ( Dog with a Blog ), Isaak Presley ( Austin & Ally ), Ariana Greenblatt ( Liv and Maddie ), and Malachi Barton ( Best Friends Whenever ). Another actress that has joined the cast is Ronni Hawk. She is not a Disney star, but she may be well on her way to being one soon.
As for the General Hospital star, he certainly has the acting chops to take on other roles besides daytime drama. In fact, Nicolas Bechtel had just recently had a guest spot this year on Grey’s Anatomy, as reported by We Love Soaps. He also had a role on Red Band Society. Whether it is drama or comedy, he is an amazing up-and-coming young star with lots of charisma and likability on-screen and off.
Stuck in the Middle is a great opportunity for Nicolas Bechtel. It looks like he will most likely stick around on General Hospital as well, but sporadically, as filming for the Disney Channel show is set to begin in November.
