In her much anticipated upcoming album, superstar singer Janet Jackson opens up about the death of her brother, Michael Jackson.
Yahoo! Music reports that Unbreakable , Janet’s first album in seven years, is due for release on October 2. However, the R&B singer opened up about her new album early, stating that one of the songs shares her feelings on the untimely death of her brother Michael in 2009. Janet’s previous album, Discipline , came out in 2008, a year before the King of Pop’s death.
The September 3 official announcement of her album release confirmed that Janet would share her feelings on her brother’s death, although there aren’t too many details yet.
“The album also will mark the first time Janet Jackson has opened up about her brother Michael and with reflections concerning her youth.”
The album release statement also says that Janet Jackson fans will get an earful of strong music that celebrates life with “very personal” songs, as well as Janet’s musical growth since her last album.
“Inherent in this music will be her feelings that we must learn to celebrate life and the things each of us experiences and endures and how that process can make each person stronger.”
Earlier this year, Janet released her first single from the album, “No Sleeep,” featuring J.Cole. Cole is only one of only two artists who collaborated with Janet on the project. Another song on the album, “Burnitup!,” features Hip-Hop artist Missy Elliott.
Music producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced “No Sleeep,” the duo responsible for helping produce Janet’s 1986 blockbuster album, Control . The producers recently stated that they were honored to work Janet again and how the single is a gift to all of her diehard fans.
“It’s wonderful to be creating again with Janet. From songwriting, producing, arranging, singing, dancing, acting, she deftly does it all and truly personifies the word artist. Unbreakable is a gift to all of her fans who have steadfastly stood by her.”
Yet, it’s Janet’s single “Unbreakable” that reminds Michael Jackson fans of the late King of Pop. Janet’s vocals on the track, eerily similar to her brother’s vocals, suggest to many fans that Janet channelled through her brother while singing the song.
Meanwhile, Janet Jackson is in the middle of a nationwide tour that lasts until March 9, 2016, when she ends her North American leg of the tour in Sunrise, Florida.
