There’s something about cat videos that continue to capture the imaginations of those who watch them, and videos of kittens are no different. Perhaps that’s why this adorable video titled “ Dad cat notices his kittens roughhousing ” is going viral online on Sunday, September 6. Uploaded seven hours ago (around midnight ET) to the video- and photo-sharing website called Imgur, the video has gained an impressive 130,760 views in a short time, making it a viral sensation.

In the video, uploaded by Imgur user natsdorf , two small kittens can be seen wrapped together atop a countertop when a large white male cat peeks over the top of the counter at their interactions. Next, that large white male cat jumps atop the same counter and starts batting at the battling duo with his paws.

The dad cat does so gently as to not injure the kittens, but to break them apart. Then the male cat taps his own paws together, appearing like a frustrated referee wanting to break apart two fighters and cause peace.

Not everyone is in love with the viral video, however. Some users are commenting about the young kittens searching for the warm belly and breasts of their mom because they’ve been placed atop a cold counter.

“They’re not roughhousing, they’re trying to find their mother because you’ve put them on a cold granite countertop when they’re 5 days old,” one person wrote.

Others are commenting that it isn’t a new video at all and that the “dad” cat is actually a “mom” cat.

“It’s an old repost. Sometimes the white cat is ‘mom’ (clearly not) and sometimes ‘dad.’”

Certain folks speculate that the presence of a feeding bottle in the background means that there isn’t a mother cat around, or that if she is around, the mother cat can’t nurse her kittens for some reason.

“Well, there’s a little bottle on the counter, which suggests that there is no mother in the picture, and it is feeding time,” one user observed.

Still others speculate that the adult cat is trying to teach the kittens how to play correctly, and not hurt one another.

“The parent cat is trying to teach them to play tho… If they felt they were in danger they could easily pick em up.”

Either way, the video of the kittens is causing plenty of speculation on Sunday, getting as much as when two Alabama men caught and rescued two kittens while fishing and the ABC News video went viral.
