Adam Mayes , the man accused of kidnapping Jo Ann Bain and her three daughters, and allegedly killing Jo Ann and her oldest daughter, has been found.

Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards confirmed that Mayes, 35, was caught in Mississippi. The two youngest Bain girls are reportedly safe.

Authorities reportedly scoured a densely wooded area near Alpine, Mississippi, about 10 miles away from his home near Guntown. State troopers blocked a road, stopping vehicles to search their trunks.

They ultimately cornered Mayes in a church on Highway 183, where he was approached by officers. He reportedly turned the gun on himself, and officers found him with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officials have stated that Adam Mayes is still alive, but that he may not make it. The girls, Alexandria Bain, 12, and her sister, Kyliyah, 8, are currently with authorities, who are reportedly taking them to a local hospital to be checked out.

Mayes, along with his wife Teresa, have been charged for the murders of Jo Ann Bain and her oldest daughter, Adrienne, 14. Their bodies were found buried in the backyard of the Mayes’ mobile home in Mississippi.

Teresa and Mayes’ mother, Mary, were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the kidnappings. Teresa reportedly confessed to watching Mayes as he murdered Jo Ann and Adrienne in the family’s garage in Tennessee.

She has said that Adam believes the two youngest children, Alexandria and Kyliyah, were his.

The 35-year-old, reportedly a close family friend of the victims, was added to the FBI’s most wanted list Wednesday.

Updated: Adam Mayes has passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
