Mitt Romney Apologizes For Being A Bully In High School

With the national spotlight centered directly on the issue of bullying, specifically at the high school level, Mitt Romney on Thursday threw together a hasty radio interview after it was discovered that the GOP presidential hopeful had forcibly cut a fellow classmates hair in high school and engaged in other attacks.

Speaking on the radio Romney apologized, noting, “Back in high school, I did some dumb things, and if anybody was hurt by that or offended, obviously I apologize.”

Romney then admitted to performing various acts of bullying that he claims to now regret:

I participated in lots of hijinks and pranks … and some might have gone too far.”

In one example Romney spewed hateful speech at a closeted homosexual, yelling “Atta girl” even though that person didn’t come out of the closet until years later.

In defending his position he told the Washington Post :

“I certainly don’t believe that I thought that fellow was homosexual. That was the furthest thing from our minds back in the 1960s.”

In the meantime Mitt Romney claims he has changed, which we would certainly hope for after 50 years. According to Romney in a quip to Business Insider :

“At some point this campaign we’ll talk about things like economy, energy, labor policy.”

To an extent Mitt Romney is correct, he should be focusing on the economy, education, labor, health care, etc., but at the same time a mans character says a lot about the leader he will be and with dogs being tied to cars , spewing rhetoric about how the country’s poor are well cared for and claiming he loves to fire people it’s hard NOT to talk about his past and present beliefs.

The gay comment comes at a time when Romney just announced that he opposes gay marriage and civil unions following President Obama’s support for the LGBT community.
