Tottenham Hotspur hosts Stoke City in Saturday’s featured Barclays Premier League matchup, and the game will be available to watch live online as both teams try to recover from frustrating 1-0 defeats in last week’s season openers — with Spurs especially needing a win if they hope to make a serious run at the top four, and UEFA Champions League qualification this year. Zero points, or just one, from their first available six would put Tottenham in an early hole.
Stoke City has ambitions of its own this year, as it awaits the debut of club record signing Xherdan Shaqiri. The 23-year-old Swiss international — who was born in Kosovo to Albanian parents but emigrated to Switzerland with his family while still an infant — arrived this week on a transfer fee of £12 million, or about $19 million in U.S. currency.
But Shaqiri must first serve out a suspension left over from his time at previous club Inter Milan, and so will not be available to play against Spurs on Saturday.

Tottenham, on the other hand, has been worried about a bid by Manchester United to lure away goal-scoring 22-year-old superstar Harry Kane — but got a boost on Friday when the England international declared that he has no interest in a move north , saying that his ambition is to become a “legend” for the club he grew up supporting.
“I’m happy. I’m focused on what I do. I’m happy at Tottenham which is a great club heading in the right direction,” Kane told the English press. “I want to become a club legend. You are always going to face pressure in football. But I’m very strong-minded and I know what I want to achieve and taking that number 10 shirt was just another part of that.”
At the same time, Spurs bid farewell Friday to disappointing Spanish striker Roberto Soldado, who tallied just seven goals in 52 games in the lilywhite jersey after arriving in 2013 on what was a club record £23 million ($36 million) transfer. Spurs agreed this week to ship Soldado back to Spain where he will join Villareal, last season’s sixth-place finisher in La Liga.
