The Jimi Hendrix biopic has been in talks for a long time, but the latest word for the upcoming film, titled All Is by My Side , has it that production has already begun, and that Hendrix will be played by Andre 3000 of OutKast fame.
The news that Hendrix will be played by Andre 3000 (né Andre Benjamin) comes from the Irish Film and Television Network . Filming of All Is by My Side will reportedly take place in the next few weeks, and will go on for about 6 weeks in all.
IFTN reports:
“IFTN understands that ‘All Is By My Side’ will document Hendrix’s period in England over 1966 and 1967 as he formulated his debut album and some of the greatest guitar music ever created. The feature film will be written and directed by John Ridley, who is best known as the writer of ‘Three Kings’ and ‘U-Turn’.”
Benjamin is more well-known for his music career with OutKast , but All Is by My Side won’t be his first foray in acting–he starred in 2006’s Idlewild and 2008’s Semi-Pro , and has made TV appearances on About a Girl and The Shield .
