Manchester City is closing on Wolfsburg’s Kevin De Bruyne in the coming days, to bolster the squad for the coming season. Manchester City have made a second transfer bid for De Bruyne, and is confident that the bid is enough to secure the signing of the Belgian.

Manchester City’s bid is reportedly worth £40 million, plus a £7 million add-on fee. De Bruyne has been exalted as one of the most promising midfielders in Europe. The 24-year-old has assisted more goals than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues last season.

The move to Manchester City baffles the Wolfburg’s coach, Dieter Hecking, who believes that De Bruyne should look elsewhere rather than a move to Manchester.

Hecking is not resigned to losing Kevin De Bruyne, but has acknowledged that the club is reviewing the offer from Manchester City.

“You never know what will happen. We consider every offer. Kevin will only be allowed to leave the club should we receive an extraordinary offer.”

Wolfsburg have refused to set a value on Kevin De Bruyne, but Manchester City may have done enough to allow the Belgian to leave.

Manchester City is looking to retain the Premier League title and may have history on their side in the last five years, the champions have started the season on a Monday. With the addition of Raheem Sterling, Manchester City is now close to completing a deal for another winger, which would improve an already impressive attack.

Kevin De Bruyne former manager, Jose Mourinho, questioned the mentality of the 24-year-old and whether or not he is good enough to make it in the Premier League.

“He did not want a team where he thinks am I playing or not? He needs that trust, he needs that quality. He needs that security. He didn’t tell me he couldn’t handle the pressure. He told me he wanted to play every weekend. I told him this is Chelsea, you are very young, you have Eden Hazard, you have Mata, you have Willian, you have Schürrle, and I cannot promise you that.”

Should Kevin De Bruyne completes his move to Manchester City, the club would end their activity in the market.
