Fox’s Knock Knock Live was canceled after just two episodes. Although the reality series was heavily advertised, the network confirmed initial ratings and viewership were terribly disappointing.

As discussed on the program’s website , Knock Knock Live was advertised as “the next generation live reality TV show.” As the show was live and unscripted, Fox reminded viewers that “anything can and will happen.”

During each episode, host Ryan Seacrest, along with a celebrity guest, appeared at an unsuspecting nominee’s home and knocked on their front door. The nominees were then invited to participate in challenges and games for “huge prizes.”

In the first episode, Seacrest was joined by David Beckham, rap icon Common, Home Free host Mike Holmes, and Kellie Pickler. Together, the celebrities gifted the nominees with cash, college tuition, home renovations, and vacations.

In the second episode, the celebrity guests included Adrienne Bailon, Justin Bieber , Jeff Gordon, and Tyler Posey. As reported by Fox , the nominees were gifted with cash, a check for medical bills, and vacations.

Despite months of hype and an impressive list of celebrity guests, the program simply did not attract enough viewers to support production. Unfortunately, Knock Knock Live was canceled just weeks after the series began.

As reported by Business Insider , the live reality show lost more than 16 percent of its 18- to 49-year-old demographic by the second episode. Between the first and second episode, the program averaged just below 2 million viewers .

With an average rating of 0.6, Knock Knock Live was reportedly “one of Fox’s lowest series debuts ever.”

According to reports, the network decided to cancel the show, as the advertising simply could not cover the cost of production.

Huffington Post reports Fox will replace the reality program with reruns of The Last Man on Earth and Brooklyn Nine-Nine .

Although his latest venture was a major disappointment, Ryan Seacrest will return to host the fifteenth season of American Idol, which will be the program’s last.

In addition to American Idol , Seacrest has hosted numerous television programs including Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve , E! News , Click , and ESPN’s Radical Outdoor Challenge . He also co-hosted the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Seacrest’s latest show, Knock Knock Live , was canceled after just two episodes. However, he is keeping busy with the production of an anticipated television series titled Shades of Blue .
