Krystal Ball has been one of the most recognizable faces at MSNBC for the last few years. It appears that’s about to end, as the roundtable talk show The Cycle has reportedly been canceled and Krystal Ball has been told she’ll no longer be part of the news network with a liberal bent. Krystal Ball isn’t the only person who has apparently lost her job at the network.

According to the Wrap , Abby Huntsman and Krystal Ball have both been told that they won’t be reassigned to any part of the network, while it appears their male co-stars will indeed still be working with MSNBC in some kind of capacity. The talk show host can take some solace in the fact that Krystal’s show is hardly the only one that is facing the cutting block. Ball’s The Cycle is actually one of three shows that have been canceled.

At this point, it isn’t clear who or what will be replacing the Cycle, mainly because it looks and feels like MSNBC is in a bit of a freefall right now as it struggles to keep up with its competitor Fox News. Still, the cancelation of Krystal’s show doesn’t make a lot of sense when talking only about Ball’s popularity. The program was the network’s leader in a number of younger demographics. Reports are circulating that the network is going to be moving towards a more “hard news” angle for its daytime programming and then switch over to opinion-based programming as the evening begins.

Reports are circulating that the two shows that follow Krystal Ball’s program have both been axed as well. Alex Wagner’s show, as well as Ed Schultz’s program, have supposedly been canceled. This is actually the second time Schultz has had his show canceled by the network. The interesting part of this story is that Krystal Ball and Abby Huntsman appear to be the only big time personalities who are being removed from the network. It appears that Wagner and Schultz will be retained in some capacity. Toure and Ari Melber are apparently going to be reassigned in some way as well. It seems likely the commentator will be able to find work on another network as she is well known throughout the political world. She came to MSNBC after a failed congressional run and has been popular ever since, but for now there’s no way to tell what’s next for Krystal Ball.
