Jeremy Lin rumors lead right to the Dallas Mavericks. It seems the Mavericks want Lin to sign an inexpensive and short-term contract with the team. A report from ESPN late Saturday (July 4) states that Lin is already giving the team strong consideration in free agency. This is a big deal because he could probably get a better contract from another franchise.
It’s possible that Lin has been offered the starting point guard position with the Mavs, something that might entice him to sign. The team no longer has Monta Ellis or Rajon Rondo to bring up the ball, but they did add some big names that could make this team a true contender. As previously reported by the Inquisitr , the team has agreements from free agents Wesley Matthews and DeAndre Jordan on four-year deals. That could give the team and star Dirk Nowitzki a push deep into the NBA Playoffs.
These Jeremy Lin rumors make a lot of sense for the player and the organization. Last season , “Linsanity” played for the LA Lakers, starting 30 of the 74 games he was on the court. Lin averaged 11.2 points, 4.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He wasn’t great from the field, shooting just 42.4 percent, but the team was pretty bad on all counts. This forced him to take a lot of bad shots that drove down that percentage from the field. Signing with a team that is a good fit on a short-term deal, he could really help improve his value for the 2016 NBA offseason.
Another draw with the Dallas Mavericks is that Lin would be reunited with Chandler Parsons. They were teammates with the Houston Rockets for two years and got along quite well. It could also help Parsons to add a familiar face to the roster down in Dallas. It’s possible that Parsons has already reached out to Lin, especially with the need to add a point guard to the roster. As it stands, Raymond Felton is still on the roster, but he has not been the answer for the Mavs.
While there are certainly other teams that could offer Lin more money, this really seems like the best scenario for him. As far as a contract goes, the Mavericks could waive Felton to create a salary slot of $2.6 million or simply offer him the room exception at $2.8 million. It’s far less than he made last season with the Lakers (about $8.4 million), but he would be signing with a much better team. These Jeremy Lin rumors just seem to make sense, and the Dallas Mavericks need to do what it takes to get him to sign.
