The Dump Trump express is rolling into the station with the biggest news yet: Macy’s has dumped Donald Trump. Over the last week, a number of Trump-affiliated companies have severed ties with the mogul, but Macy’s is the biggest yet to dump Trump over comments he made about Mexico.

On Wednesday, Macy’s made the announcement that they were pulling all Donald Trump brand merchandise from the store, hence the headlines that read: “Macy’s is Dumping Trump.” They finally pulled the plug after Trump referred to people from Mexico as killers and rapists.
“We are disappointed and distressed by recent remarks about immigrants from Mexico. We do not believe the disparaging characterizations portray an accurate picture of the many Mexicans, Mexican Americans and Latinos who have made so many valuable contributions to the success of our nation,” Macy’s said. “In light of statements made by Donald Trump, which are inconsistent with Macy’s values, we have decided to discontinue our business relationship with Mr. Trump and will phase-out the Trump menswear collection, which has been sold at Macy’s since 2004.”

The hastag #DumpTrump is being passed along on the internet, and additional companies are jumping on the bandwagon. Yesterday in the Inquisitr, it was reported that a petition had been circulated to urge Macy’s to dump Trump. They accumulated over 700,000 signatures on Wednesday Morning.
“Donald Trump does not reflect ‘the magic of Macy’s.’ Macy’s says it has a strong obligation to be ‘socially responsible’ and that ‘actions speak louder than words.’ Indeed. It’s time to act.”

After Macy’s dumped Trump, Serta mattresses has followed suit this afternoon. Disgusted by Trump’s statements about Mexico/Mexicans, Serta released the following statement.
“Serta has a licensing agreement to provide mattresses for the Trump Home mattress collection, which are manufactured in our North America-based facilities and sold at select retailers throughout the United States and Canada,” said the company in a statement released on Friday. “Serta values diversity and does not agree with nor endorse the recent statements made by Mr. Trump. We will not be renewing our license agreement with the Trump Organization when it expires at the end of this year and are in the process of unwinding our relationship.”
Trump still says he is hopeful for the Republican nomination for the 2016 primary election, but businesses continue to sever ties with the businessman over his statements about Mexico.
