In a matter of minutes, waitress Kari Vanardoy’s life changed for the better and it’s all because of a monetary gift she received from a “guardian angel.” According to ABC Action News , Vanardoy, a waitress at the Wing House in Largo, FL, had been living in a studio apartment with her boyfriend and 2-year-old son.
The 22-year-old mother and college student had been working two jobs to save for a bigger home, but, thanks to a very generous tip, the couple now has more than enough money to make their dream come true. It has been reported that the customers, who desire to remain nameless, left a $1,000.00 for a $29.00 bill.
Although Vanardoy initially thought the tip was $10.00, which would have still been substantial for the meager tab, she quickly learned she’d received much more! She also revealed lady luck hasn’t always been on her side, which only makes her recent stroke of luck more gratifying.
“I’m not used to having good luck like that,” she told ABC Action News . “I thought it was $10 at first because that would have been a nice tip on that tab. But really it was two extra zeros.”
During a recent news interview with Bay News 9 , she recounted the moment she realized the amount the customers had left. She was reportedly told that the money was for her and her son. Needless to say, Vanardroy, who has been employed at the restaurant for five years, was quite shocked over the unexpected, “one of a kind” gesture.
“I had a lump in my throat,” Vanardoy told Bay News 9 . “I didn’t know what to say and then I was like, ‘Oh my God, really guys?’ I got lucky, I guess,” she said.
However, that’s not all. The customer also shared something else with Vanardroy. “She actually told me she was my guardian angel if I ever need anything,” she said. “I didn’t do anything for them ever, so it was just a sweet act.”
Now, it looks like Vanardroy and her family will be moving into a bigger place very soon. “I used it for a down payment on a new place for me and my son and my boyfriend,” she said. “Thank you and God bless for helping out me and my little family. I am definitely going to pay it forward.”
