Florida lightning strikes occur quite frequently. However, it’s not as frequent that they hit kids, is it? Unfortunately, an 11-year-old boy felt nature’s blow.

Floridians in the vicinity say that it was just a typical spring storm in the distance. But once the lightning struck, the usual thunder didn’t follow but rather a “loud bang” — as reported in a previous Inquisitr article.

A construction worker, David Eaton, happened to see lightning strike little Bowden Tyre. As reported by the Inquisitr , he quotes as follows.

“You just see it come flashing out, but all we heard was a loud bang, and I thought it was the neighbor’s house. He got struck by lightning. I could tell because he was already red on top of the head and a little bit of the hair was gone.”

Since the lightning strike incident happened, sources have been able to catch up with young Bowden’s parents. They say that he doesn’t remember anything about it.

As the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported, Tyre’s mother told him that he had been struck by lightning , and he responded, “Okay.” His mother says that it’s actually a blessing that he doesn’t remember anything. It was probably a scary ordeal.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the process taken to bring Bowden back to life.

“The lightning hit him on the left side of his head above the ear, according to an incident report. Bowen’s father, Jason Tyre, rushed in and carried him from the water and started resuscitation. L.J. Kuzmovich, who owns the Pure Life Surf School in Wilbur-by-the-Sea, took over performing chest compressions on Bowen.

Emergency crews arrived and Bowen was rushed to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach and then transferred to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, where he was put on a ventilator and treated for bleeding on the right side of his brain. Now Bowen is on the mend. He was taken off the ventilator June 11 and on Wednesday he began treatment at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in Jacksonville.”

As Bowden continues to recover, more lightning strikes have sacked the Clay County area where he was struck. Luckily, there were no reported needs for emergency calls last night for Tyre. Recent strikes knocked out the county’s emergency call system , which is just now returning to full operation.

It happened Sunday night, as reports Florida-Times Union . The news source mentions, “The Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County Fire Rescue, Orange Park Police, and the Green Cove Springs Police Department were all affected by the outage.”
