As previously reported by the Inquisitr , CNN anchor Fredricka Whitfield used some controversial terms to describe a gunman that opened fire on the Dallas Police Department. During a segment on CNN Newsroom on Saturday, Whitfield was talking to the station’s legal analyst Phillip Holloway when she described the gunman as being “courageous and brave” for his actions.
“It was very courageous and brave, if not crazy as well, to open fire on the police headquarters, and now you have this scene, this standoff. So, you believe these are the hallmarks of more than one person’s involvement.”
Fredricka Whitfield’s comment was met with heavy criticism on Twitter, with some calling for her to be removed from the news station.

According to Mediaite , Fredricka Whitfield apologized the following day, saying that she did not mean to use those terms when describing the gunman’s actions.
“Yesterday, during a segment on the Dallas Police Departmen attack, I used the words ‘courageous’ and ‘brave’ when discussing the gunman. I misspoke and in no way believe the gunman was courageous nor brave.”
Even though Whitfield apologized, many Twitter users feel it’s not enough.
That wasn’t an apology from @FWhitfield on @CNN she needs to go. All she’s doing is creating drive for copycats to attack more cops.

It’s not just various Twitter users who aren’t accepting Fredricka Whitfield’s apology. The Fort Worth Police Officers Association’s official Facebook page posted that Whitfield needs to say something more than “I misspoke.”
“[Fredricka Whitfield], police officers around the world are still waiting for an apology. Simply stating ‘I misspoke’ is NOT a sincere apology.”

This is not the first time Whitfield has said something controversial. In a related report from the Inquisitr , during an interview with Joan Rivers last year, Whitfield proceeded to call Rivers’ criticism of the fashion world “mean.”
“Even with your fashion critiquing, while it’s very mean in some ways…”
Rivers began to defend herself, telling Fredricka Whitfield that she is honest when it comes to criticism, “not mean.” The interview then reached a point in which Rivers walked out.
