The Hunger Games has managed to rake in more than $300 million over the last 17 days, solidifying 2012 as the year of Hunger Games mania. Now attempting to cash in on the success of the movie is the property owner where the movies District 12 was filmed.

Wade Shepherd, is attempting to sell the 72-acre Henry River Mill Village for $1.4 million, claiming that fans of the book series and recently released film are flocking to the location which had never previously before experienced a tourist surge.

Shepherd tells the Associated Press that people have flocked to the location “day and night.” Henry River Mill Village is located near Hildebran, North Carolina where the Henry River Manufacturing Company once existed, however that bill was burned down in 1977 and the village was deserted.

When The Hunger Games producers began looking for a good shooting location they thought the desolate spot would be perfect to portray the poverty-stricken slums of District 12.

While the big asking price might seem like a hefty price to pay just keep in mind that the studio still has two more films to go which means more tourists will likely show up at the destination just as they have in the town of “Forks, Washington” as the Twilight series continues to play to massive crowds.

It’s not just Shepherd getting involved in all the hype, North Carolina tourism site VisitNC.com provides visitors to take part in a 4-day long “Hunger Games” itinerary, which includes a stop at the Henry River Mill Village.
