Marvel Studios Will Be Skipping Major Comic Con, Warner Bros. Amps Up DC Comics Presence In Response

Marvel Studios has certainly been on a roll in the movie business, and typically it would not be surprising to see them show up at a Comic Con, especially the San Diego Comic Con, especially considering that Marvel studios has knocked it out of the park at the box office with The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Avengers: Age Of Ultron . However, according to Comicbook, Marvel Studios plans to skip San Diego’s popular Comic Con.

Hall H at the San Diego Comic Con will be a little less exciting this year, but the move for Marvel Studios to opt out of one of the most popular comic cons is odd, especially with the third installment of Captain America , Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and of course Ant-Man upcoming. Though there is no official reason for them bowing out of the California-based comic con, speculations have been made.

With Marvel Studios working alongside Disney Studios, many expect earlier this year that they might opt to stop by the D23 expo, which is Disney’s own con. It also happens to be one month after San Diego’s Comic Con. Still, it might have been interesting for Marvel to do a little star-studded promotion for Ant-Man , which debuts less than a week after the comic con.

Deadline reports that Warner Bros. plans on filling the void left by Marvel and arranging a big comic con appearance.

If Marvel studios is ditching the hall and the opportunity, it makes perfect sense for their rival to fill the void, especially since Warner Bros. has a lot of DC Comics films on the way to promote, and of course the fact that they are behind Marvel when it comes to comic book film adaptations. Big films with big exceptions like Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and Justice League Part One are among these Warner Bros. DC film productions that are upcoming.

Warner Bros. could learn a lot from Marvel Studios’ past Comic con appearances such as The Iron Man 2 segment that Marvel did with Robert Downey, Jr. in the Tony Stark character speaking to the audience and the Thor: The Dark World actor Tom Hiddleston taking over the San Diego-based convention as Loki from the aforementioned film.

The Inquisitr reported the prediction that Marvel studios might skip SDCC, and suggested something big for Warner Bros. Batman V Superman film.

Warner Bros. certainly has enough big flicks, DC characters, and actors to really make a big show out of it with Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, and Will Smith. It will be interesting to see how Warner Bros. spotlight at the SDCC will pan out.

What are your thoughts? Was it a wise decision for them to drop out?

Will DC Comics shine in their new found major spot at the SDCC?
