Did ‘Real Housewives Of Orange County’ Star Vicki Gunvalson Just Admit To Using Storywriters?

Vicki Gunvalson recently let slip that Real Housewives of Orange County isn’t a completely unscripted reality show. The reality star posted several images on Instagram that seem to point to the idea that the show uses writers to make things more interesting.

“Just left our Season 10 launch party in L.A.” Gunvalson wrote alongside one of the images. “So great seeing all the production crew, story writers and Evolution staff. Are you ready?”

The fact that she used the words “story writers” in her post initiated quite a bit of backlash on the social media site, where fans accused the show of being scripted. Gunvalson tried to backtrack after the news broke by writing “Those who are wondering … Story writers are those that take our ‘reality’ filming tapes and make them into episodes to watch. Aka: story writers. I never said they are scripted. It’s our reality made into a show.”

The news follows what has been a controversial week for the show, after Real Housewives of Orange County newcomer Meaghan King Edmonds accused Gunvalson’s boyfriend, Brook Ayers, of lying about his cancer. In a recent interview with Perez Hilton , Edmonds discussed her suspicions about Ayers’ disease.

“My stepdaughter’s mom is dying of cancer currently, so I have a vested interest in cancer and cancer treatments,” she stated. “And so, of course, I was interested in what Brook’s treatment plans were and what he was doing … and I really thought I would find an ally. And as time goes on, you are going to see that I am not the only one [asking] these questions.”

Brooks Ayers claims to have been diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma in the fall of 2013. Even prior to his diagnosis, his relationship with Gunvalson has been a point of contention with Vicki’s daughter, Briana, and her bestie, Tamra Judge. Edmonds went on to explain that as Season 10 goes on, she is not the only one who questions Ayers’ ailment.

“As time goes on, you are going to see I’m not the only one making these questions. I didn’t go into meeting [Brooks Ayers] and Vicki with that idea at all. I had a completely clean slate, and I think that’s only fair that you can only give everyone a chance to get to know them as you, personally. I don’t really know [Brooks Ayers] that well. I really don’t, but you are going to see some questioning about the cancer, and it’s not just me.”

Vicki Gunvalson and the rest of the Real Housewives of Orange County return June 8, 2015, on Bravo.
