Adam Sandler is really taking his career to the next level. Sandler’s 2001 film “Jack and Jill has broken a box office record by completely sweeping the Razzie Awards . Now his company Happy Madison is set to take over production on a remake of the 1980’s classic “Summer School”
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Happy Madison is currently in negotiations to handle production of the movie , which has been stuck in development since 2005.
The original film, directed by Carl Reiner, starred Mark Harmon as Freddy Shoop, a super lazy high school gym teacher who takes over a summer school class of losers who he would probably be better off joining than teaching. Kirstie Alley played Robin Bishop, a co-worker that Freddy falls for after she helps him discover his worth as a teacher and as a man.
No word on whether Sandler would actually be starring in the movie.
Adam Sandler has been a tear lately but in a bad way. His movies have been getting worse and worse and making less and less money. In speaking to one of the reporters here at the Inquisitr, she commented that Adam Sandler was turning into the Rob Schneider of the 2010’s. Which is ironic because Rob Schneider gets some level of role in all of Sandler’s awful movies.
This would not be the first time Adam Sandler decided to make a comedy about school. He starred in the hit comedy Billy Madison which featured him in grade school. He also starred in the Waterboy about a “slow” adult who goes to college on a football scholarship.
