Broadway fans experiencing a weather-induced flight delay were in for a special treat when they were stranded at La Guardia airport for several hours as the casts of two major musicals, The Lion King and Aladdin , broke out into a sing off.
The viral video features the two Broadway musicals breaking out into The Lion King ‘s “Circle of Life” before the cast of Aladdin breaks in with their own song. The sing off, which reportedly occurred Sunday night, is delighting users of social media and was certain to put a smile on the faces of every Broadway lover forced to wait out the weather at New York’s La Guardia. The Aladdin Broadway cast even threw in a couple of lyrics bemoaning their flight delay.
Watch it here:
Broadway’s musical appearance in the airplane genre is nothing new, at least not for the cast of The Lion King who broke out into song last year on an Australian flight.
The cast of The Lion King had also taken their act to the lower levels recently performing parts the Broadway musical’s songs on a New York subway.
Not to be outdone, Broadway’s Aladdin had their own viral video last August when the musical paid tribute to the late Robin Williams and his timeless portrayal of Genie from the Disney film the musical is based on.
This is a big week for Broadway musicals and plays as they prepare for the 69th Annual Tony Awards on Sunday, June 7. Frequently-casted Broadway musical star Kristin Chenoweth is set to host.
Though it’s not nominated for any awards this time around, The Lion King did snag the Tony for Best Musical in 1998 and Aladdin received a nomination last year for the same category.
While the passengers at La Guardia likely enjoyed their Broadway musical treat, the impromptu performance left at least one celebrity feeling jealous she hadn’t witness it herself.

Most Broadway musical fans would agree Sarah Michelle Gellar. Nothing like that ever happens to us at the airport either.
Tell us which Broadway musical cast you would most like to be stuck in the airport with.
